Team Astana won today's 24-mile team time trial by averaging 31.25 mph. Cancellara is still in yellow, but he is less than 1 second ahead of Lance Armstrong. This means that if Lance takes a time bonus tomorrow, he'll take the yellow jersey. Friday's stage 7 mountain stage will most likely facilitate the next big change of lead.
Here is the current general classification, with Astana riders taking spots 2-5:
1 Fabian Cancellara (Swi) Team Saxo Bank 10:38:07
2 Lance Armstrong (USA) Astana
3 Alberto Contador Velasco (Spa) Astana 0:00:19
4 Andreas Klöden (Ger) Astana 0:00:23
5 Levi Leipheimer (USA) Astana 0:00:31
Astana thus increased their lead in the teams classification.
Daniel,
ReplyDeleteDid you form a fantasy team? I went from 14000 place to 791 place. It was a good day for me. The best day until today was 999. I am enjoying it and looking forward to the rest of the race as everyone is now locked into their team selections. I also wondered if you signed up for "2009 Challenge" where you log in your personal cycling? This should be an interesting year and hopefully not tainted by doping.
And...when can we start planning our trip to France to cheer you on in the Tour de France?
ReplyDeleteNo fanatasy teams for me yet.
ReplyDeleteCan't answer Beth's question either, but here's the view from the team car I'll let you ride in:
