AP announces Landis verdict. . .
According to documents obtained by AP, and to be made public later Thursday, the vote was 2-1 to uphold the results, with lead arbitrator Patrice Brunet and Richard McLaren in the majority and Christopher Campbell dissenting.
Landis responds:
"This ruling is a blow to athletes and cyclists everywhere" "For the Panel to find in favor of USADA when, with respect to so many issues, USADA did not manage to prove even the most basic parts of their case shows that this system is fundamentally flawed. I am innocent, and we proved I am innocent."
The panel says that the lab did not do it's job and at least the first test cannot be trusted, and the second one is suspect. But the ruled 2-1 anyway. There is a ton of information out there Trust But Verify links to most of it. Both the majority and minority opinions are available a pdf downloads. More than I will be reading today.
Gotta go no and take medicine for my gout.

Since You Aksed...
Peterson-Weaver-Wilson-Curtin-Remington (et al) Family Blog Since Rob asked what's up with the rest of us, I will respond. Right now I am sitting in the El Dorado Arts Council office for the traditional 3rd Saturday Art Walk event in downtown P'Ville. A few of us share this responsibility with our Program Administrator who is currently in Malibu for some art/film festival thing in Malibu. The other board member who is supposed to be here with me has not shown up, which is fine since no one has come in and I have time to check the Blog, etc. I even brought a book to read. Steve and Kyle went to a River Cats baseball game. The reason we have the office open one Saturday a month is that we show member artists' work for sale.

Date and route announced
The Los Angeles Marathon folks announced a brand new course for next years marathon and bicycle ride. The new route starts in Universal City and ends downtown at the Central Library. This sounds very exciting as it will be a whole new view of the city. The date is March 4, 2007--save the date all you bicyclists who read this blog!

Floyd's Neighbor Writes
Tomorrow's Whittier Daily News will carry this article by Floyd Landis' neighbor in Murietta.
I enjoyed reading it. Thought you might too.

Hurricane Daniel
East Pacific Storm Advisory...Hurricane Daniel...130MPH winds. Location: 14.9N 135.7W. Moving WNW. The tip of Baja California (Los Cabos) is about 23N. The Hurricane is moving away from that area of Mexico and gaining strength. It is headed off toward Hawaii. I just wanted to bring this to your attention, since it is a storm named for my nephew.

Favorite Tour Commercials
Each year I enjoy some of the commercials as much as the Tour de France. This year my favorites include "Messing with Sasquatch (shaving cream/whip cream in the hand...tickle the nose), Tour Mania (Bob Roll acting crazy), and the blue jeans commercial (fleeing suspect tries to change pants to lose cops with a different outfit). Any favorites for you other viewers? Anyone else find the Pennzoil add tiring?

A Race at La Mirada Regional
Race results are yet to be posted, see Daniel's comments at DW's Blog.

I need to practice using my little camera. Among the images I captured there is this one of Daniel, one of my thumb, and one of Daniel's rear wheel. It's a nice rear wheel too.

Three Weeks of Cycling Thrills
Will it rain? Will cows cross the road? Will there be nasty pile-up crashes? Will anyone dangle their musette too far out? Will Bob Roll talk with his hand motions? Will any commercials be funny? Will I drop out of society for three weeks? Will I be aware of any other world news between tomorrow and July 23? Will there be amazing views from a helicopter of fields of sunflowers? Will I run out of questions? What could be more fun than the Tour de France during hot summer days?

The Jr. Men's race results are in and posted at SCRNA showing Daniel Wilson in 5th place with 8 points.
Daniel shares his learnings and strategic thinking for next time at DW's Blog.
And the next race? looks like this Sunday, July 2, 2006 at 8:16 AM at La Mirada High School. From the flyer (its a .pdf download), it looks like a whole day of exciting racing. I think I'll be there.
