Stage 7 Tour of California 2008 Pasadena, CA [UPDATE]
My friend Sam Smotherman came out with his son, Tron, to watch the race today. It was cold and colder, wet, then wetter.
Cindi stayed near the finishing line with her new friends: George Hincapie, Phil Liggett, and more. More photos should show up soon.
The rider pictured above, Tom Zirbel was in the lead by 15 seconds ahead of the chase group each time they went by us. He was overtaken by the chase group on the home stretch and George Hincapie won the stage.

I thought that little boy looked familiar. Tron is a cutie. Glad you got to see the end.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to participate. Looking forward to more pictures. I watched Sat. and Sunday on the website until the versus channel caught up to real time. Each of the stages had team and individual strategies which kept you watching until the finish. An exciting year of cycling in California. I am looking forward to the Tour of America in the fall. Hope that gets live coverage on television.
ReplyDeleteI got to shake Hincapie's hand after the Santa Clarita finish. I said, "Good luck tomorrow." He said, "Thanks." And he won the next day. That was cool. I also got to meet Phil Liggett, broadcaster, on Sunday in Pasadena. I really respect his broadcasting and was happy to meet him, too. Even without those to nice moments, the Tour of California was great fun, including the time spent in the cold, pouring rain on Sunday.
