Update on Lance

Johan Bruyneel, "Lance's boss," says:

“This has no impact on the Tour at all. I don’t think this changes anything for the Tour de France. It’s too early to say about the Giro. Being at the start of the Giro isn’t a problem, but he has to have a decent level to be competitive. We may have to change our focus and try to do the Giro with another mentality.”

(Lance wanted to do Italy's version of the Tour de France too this year. It is in May.)

A doctor says:
"For a high level athlete, we generally practice an osteosynthesis, which means that we fix the collarbone with some material [metal plates, screws, wires, etc.]. Ten days or two weeks afterwards, he can train on the rollers again," said Nicolet, who believes that Armstrong could be back riding his bike on the road in three weeks.

Team Astana continued the Spanish race where Lance crashed. Lance's teammate Levi won today's time trial, with Alberto Contador (also on the team) taking 2nd.

10 cm?

(The photo finish, from gazzeta.it)

Mark Cavendish won today's Milan-San Remo race in Italy by about 10 cm.

The race was 185 miles long, and Cavendish averaged 27.6 mph.

Lance Armstrong was in the second major group after he fell behind on the second-to-last major climb.

Article in MEDAzine

I am pleased to share an article which came out in MEDA's e-magazine this morning, The MEDAzine. The article is about an organization I founded last year. I am so encouraged that MEDA is helping tell the story and providing further momentum. We are never too busy to do a little good.

Tour of California Stage 7 Update

Rinaldo Nocentini (AG2R La Mondiale) takes Stage 7 win today in Pasadena's Rose Bowl.

Saw Daniel Wilson; Sam, Naomi, Anju and Tron Smotherman; talked to Ken Brown on the phone where was watching with his kids at the other end of the Rose Bowl circuit. And Cindi watched the finishing line and reported to me via text messages.

Tomorrow it's on to Stage 8 in Escondido and Rancho Bernardo.

Can you top this?

Did anyone in the family get a picture of Lance and Levi better than this? I snapped this one today in Pasadena where Avuncular Glen was. Competition ends tomorrow.

That's former World Champ Tom Boonen between the 2 Americans.

Pasadena for Stage 7

We are headed to Pasadena for Stage 7 of Tour of California. I am taking sun screen and wearing short. Big change from the weather at the beginning of the Tour.

Come out and watch with us. [Note: I am not riding. This is a professional sporting event with over 1 million in person spectators of the 9 days. It is just as likely that I would be asked to pitch if I went to a Dodgers game as to ride in the Tour of California. But, you never know!]
