Lance took second place in the prologue while his biggest rival, Jan Ullrich, took 16th! Good news so far. Here's lance on his TT bike. The most critical stage, a time trial, is on l'Alpe d'Huez, and lance rode it at least ten times in May to "learn every centimeter of it." There was one crash on the course when the rider started pedaling while he was on a corner (no one worth mentioning). Actually somenone had a worse crash before the Tour even started when he was riding the course to know the corners as well as possible.
Eddy Merckx was the best rider that ever lived and won a third of the races he participated in. He is also a good friend of Lance Armstrong and says he should try the to break a record for going as fast as possible in an hour around a track (Eddy did that).
All the pro cycling magazines have Lance on them because he is the favorite and he can break a record (and tradition). Here are a few of them:
