I was surprised to read your impression. What underwhelmed you? I thought it was great on several levels. A great story well told. Really enjoyed it. Need to see it again.
i had a hard time with so many talking animals. it would have been cool if the subject matter of the animals' dialogue were more "cheeky" humor, because i'm certainly a sucker for cartoons, and muppets and such. also notable: i was a bit spent when i watched the film, so my attention span was short. i do however have a soft spot for the books, which were read aloud to me by a very wise lady, many years ago.
I can see what you mean about the animals. I enjoyed the animals, but I do get your point. I really appreciate the additional information. Makes sense, not that I require that. I was touched to read of your soft spot for the books...read by a "very wise lady." Nice words in a rugged world. Encouraged me and I'm sure it will encourage the very wise lady.
When we saw it, the crowd was so responsive, I missed some of the dialog. I want to see it again to get the full dialog.
I plan to see it on Weds or Thurs of thie coming week or the next as it is senior discount day. Maybe the seniors from Ohio would like to join me. How about that?
I really want to see the movie. I still remember how I connected to the story when I was a kid reading it myself. I rarely enjoy rereading books, but The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is one of a few exceptions. I loved reading it as a child, I loved reading it aloud to my own children (that's no measure, though...I loved reading aloud anything to them:-) and even purchased a class set for students in my room to read. Reading that "Aslan is on the move" is very moving to me. I also think the series that PBS broadcast years ago using the Narnia series was excellent.
I missed out on this book and the series as a child. I was introduced to it at college. I was moved by "Aslan is on the move" in the movie, Beth, so I appreciate your mentioning that.
