I am pleased to share an article which came out in MEDA's e-magazine this morning, The MEDAzine. The article is about an organization I founded last year. I am so encouraged that MEDA is helping tell the story and providing further momentum. We are never too busy to do a little good.

Tour of California Stage 7 Update
Rinaldo Nocentini (AG2R La Mondiale) takes Stage 7 win today in Pasadena's Rose Bowl.
Saw Daniel Wilson; Sam, Naomi, Anju and Tron Smotherman; talked to Ken Brown on the phone where was watching with his kids at the other end of the Rose Bowl circuit. And Cindi watched the finishing line and reported to me via text messages.
Tomorrow it's on to Stage 8 in Escondido and Rancho Bernardo.

Can you top this?
Did anyone in the family get a picture of Lance and Levi better than this? I snapped this one today in Pasadena where Avuncular Glen was. Competition ends tomorrow.

Pasadena for Stage 7
We are headed to Pasadena for Stage 7 of Tour of California. I am taking sun screen and wearing short. Big change from the weather at the beginning of the Tour.
Come out and watch with us. [Note: I am not riding. This is a professional sporting event with over 1 million in person spectators of the 9 days. It is just as likely that I would be asked to pitch if I went to a Dodgers game as to ride in the Tour of California. But, you never know!]

Rain in my back yard
On the 5th we had 2.1" 1.7" on 6th .6" on the 8th , .21" 0n 10th, .4" 0n 14th and 4.2" 0n 17th and last .1" on 18th . I think that makes 9.82" since January 1st.

Levi Leipheimer King of the Mountain
Day 3, Stage 2, Levi Leipheimer is King of the Mountain #2 at Bonny Doon. And, Lance Armstrong is in the race too.
Sports Coverage
Coverage of 2009 Tour of California??? We just returned from the weekend in Sacramento/San Francisco areas following the Prologue, Stage 1, and Stage 2 of the Tour of California with the best of the best American and European professional cyclists, not to mention California resident super stars in the cycling world, and California business sponsors. The TV coverage up there was awesome! We returned home last night and couldn't find any coverage of the Tour of California on evening or morning news. Disappointing. Perhaps we just missed it and the local news stations are covering it. This is an AMAZING event for many of us. I wonder how they prioritize what gets reported. They did cover the Lakers almost getting in a fight at practice. It feels like I dreamed the whole event, since it didn't get any mention on the news here so far.

In Davis for Stage one roll out
We will be in Davis later today to see the 2009 ATOC riders begin stage one in heavy wind and rain. The wind woke us up this morning at Beth and Steve's house in Placerville. Of course, Davis in an hour or so west of here in the valley. Forecast is for rain and wind.
Local news coverage for the race is heavy here. Leading the headlines, the weather and sports section of the newscast.
Steve got some awesome photos with his fancy camera. I got to talk to and answer questions for a lot of fans in my volunteer course marshal position--"What color is Lance wearing?" "Can I cross the street here?"
Beth and Cindi got a great view from chairs in the grassy median of the Capitol Mall.
I predict both Floyd (my favorite) and Lance will move up in the rankings today.

ToC Prologue
Fabian Cancellara won the Tour of California prologue in Sacramento today. It was 2.4 miles, and he averaged 31.25 miles per hour. Levi Leipheimer, the blog owners' favorite, was just 1 second behind. Expect him to be the overall winner in a week.
Many of the world's top professionals were there and did well. It's odd to see Lance Armstrong in tenth place, 4 seconds behind.
That's about all I know.

In Placerville . . .
It's cold and snowing. Yikes!
Stevii and Cindii are playing Wii golf.
Tomorrow we'll be at a lower elevation in Sacramento. Forty percent chance of rain. I think that means if you line up 10 cyclists, 4 of them will get wet.
That will be a lot of wet professional cyclists

Crystal Lake update
The Latest News from Crystal Lake (CA) is that Caltrans has finished working on a bridge on Hwy 39. What about the campground? "The campgrounds have been completely restored with all driving surfaces repaved and painted."
We still don't know when the road will be open to cars, let alone when the campground will re-open. Another project is scheduled for May-September.
Any more rain reports, Grandma? They say we'll have more soon.
